The second of the 2 flicks I peeped this weekend was another one on the Supernatural Horror boat. This time we have a recent one titled The Autopsy of Jane Doe. The title of this film is self-explanatory and pretty much straightforward. This is a story of the corpse of an unidentified woman found buried in the basement of a house where a brutal murder was committed and given to a father-son team of coroners at their self-owned state of the art morgue. It’s revealed, however, as the movie goes on, that there’s something special about this lovely young lady and she shows it in the form of some frightening chaos that unfolds as the coroner duo try to figure out what the hell is up and escape. This is an interesting premise on the surface, but after watching it, i’m not exactly sure if it held up.
I don’t have as much to say about this movie as I did for The Taking of Deborah Logan. Simply because it wasn’t as creepy or gruesome, though it could have been if handled right. The formula the film followed was simple. Not too many characters, not too much going on at once and easy to follow. The result, however, just wasn’t what it could have been. The movie overall was just not that exiting. I’m not going to spoil any of it here, you can give this a watch if you please, but to me, my viewing experience wan’t all that rewarding. The reveal towards the end and the peeling back of the layers of how this woman died and what she really is was pretty neat, but again, just poorly executed. Not necessarily disappointing as I didn’t have my expectations on high going into it, but that doesn’t make it any less underwhelming.
So that’s about it. Not much to say. Just a very ‘meh’ film at best. It may be a good watch if you were bored and just needed something random to check out, but that’s about it. Don’t go into this one expecting anything too gruesome or too creepy. Just expect something interesting on the surface, but short in delivery. Nothing more.
Hopefully more reviews coming this weekend.
Until next time.
