Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast | #5 – At the Gates: The Nightmare of Being & Darkthrone: Eternal Hails…

Yup, that’s right, folks. It’s time for yet another episode of the Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast! Episode 5 is here and this time around, I give my thoughts on the new albums by Swedish Melodic Death Metal kings, At the Gates and Norwegian Black Metal masters, Darkthrone… both of which I have mixed feeling about.

Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast | #4 – Portal: Avow & Impaled Nazarene: Eight Headed Serpent

So, it’s been a few months since I’ve recorded a podcast episode; the last time being when I was stricken with the big bad ‘rona and stuck at home listening to Grindcore for a week. Well, lately, I’ve been in a bit of a rut writing-wise, mainly due to lack of time, so I figure now would be a good time to get back on the mic and give some more of my audio thoughts on a a few new outings! So, it’s time for episode 4 of the Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast. But wait, there’s more!

This will actually be the first of 3 new episodes! The next 2 (episodes 5 & 6), will be out some time next week.

This time around, I review the latest hallucinatory nightmare in aural form, by the Lovecraftian void demons known as Portal, as well as the long-awaited new beast of an album by Finnish Black Metal sleazeballs, Impaled MOTHERFUCKING Nazarene! Both reviews are fairly short, but I tried to describe them as best I could, without going beyond my preferred run-time. Hopefully I’ve done them justice. Both albums get a thumbs up from me!

Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast | #3 – The Quarantine Grind

So, it’s been a while since one of these posts sprouted up on here… but the secondary branch of Thy Kingdom Scvm has finally reared it’s ugly head once again! After 5 long months, I’ve finally garnered up the energy and patience to records a new episode of the podcast! It’s only the 3rd episode in this podcast’s existence, but I never intended for it to follow any sort of steady schedule or format; it’s a free-form thing that will happen when it happens. As the old saying goes: quality over quantity! (Whatever “quality” my stupid ass talking for half an hour may present). I originally intended for this podcast to be just album reviews, but, as I state at the beginning of this episode, that’s going to be exclusive to the blog. I much rather stick to doing reviews in writing form, rather that spoken-form, because I don’t ramble too much when writing. So, instead, this podcast will be more about quick recommendations and shootin’ the shit about whatever interesting shit I have going on in my life or in the Metal scene or what have you. I feel like that’ll bring more of a uniqueness to the show, as opposed to just doing more goddamn reviews, which I already have trouble keeping on a steady flow these days.

In this episode, I talk about my latest adventure… sitting at home in quarantine, with Covid-19 chilling in my system. I recently caught the virus and have sat at home for the last week-plus as a result, isolating myself from other humans (so, basically like any other week in my life), and give my quick recommendations of what I’ve listened to over the last week, most of which was Grindcore, because apparently Covid puts you on a Grind kick, which is pretty neat. So, if you’re a fan of Grind and all of it’s sub-genres, this is an episode for you!

So, here ya go. Give a listen here or below and get grindin’!

Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast | Re-upload: #1 – Akhlys: Melinoรซ & Of Feather and Bone: Sulfuric Disintegration

Hello again!

So, as I mentioned in my last post, promoting my second podcast episode, I mentioned that the first episode was skipped over, because it’s sound quality was a little off. Well, today, I had some time on my hands and decided to fix it up a little and re-upload it! It’s back up again and it sounds at least mostly presentable now. So, here it is!

On my first episode, I review the harrowing, nightmarish and chill-inducing new album by the mysterious entity known as Akhlys, as well as what I now consider old school Death Metal album of the year, courtesy of Of Feather and Bone!

Listen here or below and enjoy!

Thy Kingdom Scvm Podcast | #2 – Young and in the Way: Ride off and Die & Inquisition: Black Mass for a Mass Grave

So yeah, I have a podcast now!

This is something that’s been a long time coming. I’ve been flirting with the idea of a podcast for over a year now, and I finally worked up the courage to get it going. It was just a matter of overcoming my fear of hearing my own, shitty voice on a recording. But I finally did and I’m already on my second episode! I didn’t promote episode 1, because honestly, it sounds like shit. I was still learning how to edit and I kept switching back and forth between recording it on my computer microphone and my phone, which both sound totally different, quality-wise. The intro/outro music also sounds muffled. I definitely learned my lesson there, so I corrected those mistakes for episode 2, which sounds much better!

On this episode, I review the long-awaited new ripper from North Carolina’s Blackened Punk filth-mongers, Young and in the Way! Who, as we all know by now, six years ago, put out one of the best Black Metal albums of the 2010s. I also review the new album by Black Metal titans, Inquisition! Yes, I address the elephant in the room regarding that one and yes, I’m aware, but this podcast, just like this blog, is purely about the music and the art itself, not the human beings behind it. All that aside, Inquisition have put out another masterpiece, as far as I’m concerned.

So, here it is, for your listening pleasure! I’d say enjoy, but I hate hearing myself talk.
